Andalucia & Portugal league kicks off in Lisbon

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN..

You are kindly invited to join GAA Portugal and friends on Saturday February 3rd in Jamor for the Lisbon leg of the "Andalucia + Portugal League", 1 of the 3 on the Iberian Peninsula.

This is the 2nd year that the Lisbon Celtiberos are competing in the "Andalucia + Portugal League". Last year our men's team made history, their first year competing and they won the Cup. We're really hoping our women can make history this year in 2024, we've some great players coming through.

We invite all our players, men and women, to participate in this years tournament. We invite all our family and friends to join and support us in Jamor, just a 15 min walk up from Cruz Quebrada train station.

2024 sees a different format to last year, so we will be joined by men's and women's teams from Éire Óg Sevilla and Gibraltar Gaels, the mens will play 11 a side, the women 9 a side. We might also have an exhibition hurling match, updates coming soon, thanks to the trojan work being done by the new Iberian hurling officer, Sean O Riain.

We thank all those who continue to help grow our club, our fitness, our fun, our friendships... our community. Far from being a closed Irish ghetto in the sun, since COVID we've had people from near 30 countries play with us, most with no Irish connections, just up for the craic.

Special thanks to our Venezuelan goal keeper, sometimes women's captain and very talented graphic artist Leonella Rodríguez Dotti, who designed this years very Portuguese Posters..

We also thank our sponsors DRUID and the continued support from the GAA, Gaelic Games Europe & Irish Foreign Ministry (DFA). This year we recieved a grant to develop our hurling side and are delighted to get hurls, sliotars, helmets which Seán is already putting to good use and we expect to see used at the upcoming Cáceres Irish Fleadh in Caceres, Spain next September.
